What we take on
Food & basic needs
Pantry distribution, seasonal drives, and referral connections with eligibility requirements explained in plain language — not buried in application language designed to discourage claims. Distribution schedules, available items, and eligibility criteria are published online and updated weekly. We track distribution quantities by lot and report them publicly.
Youth & education
After-school tutoring and mentorship programmes staffed by background-checked volunteers matched to subject areas and student age groups. Progress is tracked by session and shared with participating families quarterly. We cap student-to-volunteer ratios to maintain programme quality rather than maximising headcount for reporting purposes.
Community outreach
Neighbourhood events, resource fairs, and referral partnerships with agencies that have been vetted for programme quality and follow-through. We track referral outcomes — not just referral volume — so we can discontinue partnerships with agencies that do not serve clients effectively. Community feedback is collected at each event and reviewed before the next one.
Volunteer programmes
Training, shift scheduling, and hour-tracking for individuals and corporate volunteer groups. Orientation covers programme goals, client dignity standards, and the specific tasks volunteers will perform — not a generic session followed by improvisation in the field. Corporate group volunteer experiences are designed to create meaningful contribution, not photo opportunities.

FAQ
01How do I donate?
Online, by mail, or in person — receipts for tax purposes are issued within five business days. We accept one-time and recurring gifts, in-kind donations of listed items, and donor-advised fund grants. Designated gifts are tracked separately and reported to the donor on how the funds were applied.
02What are the volunteer requirements?
All volunteers complete a one-hour orientation. Youth-facing roles require a background check completed through our third-party provider at no cost to the volunteer. Shifts are booked through our online calendar with automated confirmation. Drop-in volunteering is not available — prior booking ensures we can deploy you effectively.
03Who is eligible for your programmes?
Eligibility varies by programme — each programme page lists requirements without unnecessary barriers or jargon. If you are uncertain whether you qualify, call us before travelling to a service location. We would rather answer a question in advance than send someone away at the door.
04How much of donations go to programmes?
91 cents of every dollar received funds direct programming and services. Overhead — administration and fundraising — is 9 cents, disclosed in our audited annual report. We do not draw down reserve funds to inflate the programme ratio in reporting years with strong donations.
